September 24-30 Take a Child Outside Week!
Here is a link to a website with more information.
"Inspired by Richard Louv’s book “Last Child in the Woods,” Take A Child Outside week was founded to help connect children with nature. By celebrating opportunities for children to have free play outside, highlighting locations offering places to explore the outdoors, and providing simple activities anyone can do, we hope to increase the number of children experiencing the natural world."
To celebrate this week, Steve and I will be reading to classes in the Falcon's Nest. Here is a Sign Up Genius where you can sign up to bring your classes out for a read-a-loud. You will notice there are not enough slots for all classrooms, with coverage responsibilities, it is difficult to do that many slots, but please bring your students outside, have them make observations of nature, or come up with your own way to celebrate the outdoors with your students.
| Love seeing my recess kids play the classics. Hide-n-Seek and foot races! |
